| Girl on Swing
(Coptic This picture triggers lots of memories. First of all, it was my first ‘date’ with Sheila, deciding to spend a day hanging out in Coptic Cairo before she moved on to Kenya that night (of course, not realizing I’d be joining her…). Near the end of our walk, I decided to take a low-chance shot of this girl swinging ferociously on a home-made wash basin swing in the street. Despite the likelihood of blurriness and a truncated subject, I thought ‘what the hell…’ and clicked away. It also reminds me of why I travel: seeing kids making the most of what simple pleasures they have, able to play without the watchful eye of concerned parents, and never knowing when a great photo is around the corner. Oh, yes. And Sheila. |
