INDONESIA (back to Homepage) I arrived in Indonesia in November, 2003, just 2 weeks after the
horrible terrorist bombing of the Sari nightclub in the heart of the tourist
district of Denpasar, Bali. Starting at my friend Cory’s place in
Surbaya, East Java, I made my way eastward
through small villages and nearby volcanoes. After a few days in Bali with Cory and his pal
Paul, I spent a week diving and relaxing in the laid back Gili Islands.
From there, I spent a week heading east on a sailboat along the islands of
Lombok, Sumbawa, Rinca, Komodo and Flores.
The scuba diving among these islands offered amazing fish, 15’
stingrays, and the most surreal corals.
